Raila's Surprise Phone Call From Former U.S President Barrack Obama That Led To Postponement Of Swearing-in(AUDIO)
A last minute phone call by Raila Odinga to NASA secretariat led to unexpected postponement of his planned swearing-in, reveals Oduor Ongwen.
Plans to unveil Mombasa as venue for the much anticipated inauguration had been finalized with secretariat sending invitation to the media at Okoa Kenya moments before postponement.
"Understand the dejection and I am in the same situation. As the organizing committee, we had gathered at Okoa Kenya to announce Mombasa as the venue," wrote Ongwen at Kenya Patriotic Movement WhatsApp Group.
He added: "Then Raila called us for a meeting with other principals who appraised us with the new development. It was then agreed that they communicate."
A statement read by Musalia Mudavadi later on ruled out the swearing in but cited that the date for launching of People's Assembly and subsequent inauguration of Raila would be announced later.
Yet again, another statement from NASA spokesperson Salim Lone indicated that the postponement was arrived at due to absence of Kalonzo Musyoka.
For the past one week, envoys from Western countries have been pushing for dialogue between NASA and Jubilee citing that the swearing-in would be a recipe for chaos.
