Details have emerged on the student who topped this year's KCPE examinations whose results were released on Tuesday.
Goldalyn Kakuya scored 455 marks out of 500 to top the country in the 2017 KCPE examinations
Kakuya sat for her exams at St Ann Juniour School Lubao, Kakamega County .
Speaking at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development on Tuesday morning, Matiang’i officially released the results revealing what the top student scored.
“Our
highest candidate this year scored 455 marks out of 500. All students
who scored 400 marks and above will be placed in national schools
regardless of whether they sat their exams in private or public
schools," the CS stated.
Kakuya's marks shows a marked improvement from the highest scoring candidate who had 437 marks in 2016.
The second best candidate in the country was revealed to be from a public school.
Matiangi further revealed that the top special needs student scored 426
marks and overall six special needs students scored more than 400 marks.
According to the Kenya National Examinations Council Chairman Prof
George Magoha, a total of 993,718 sat for the 2017 KCPE exams in 28,566
examination centres across the country.
