Ndegwa stated that he was eagerly waiting for the presentation of the motion to understand under which sections of the Constitution it is based on.

The Speaker noted that the Constitution recognizes only two assemblies which are the National Assembly and the Senate.

Ndegwa stated that it was criminal and illegal to create other assemblies adding that the move was a plan by the Opposition to acquire relevance.

National Super Alliance (NASA) Leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday for the formation of a People’s Assembly to run the country after he rejected the results of the repeat presidential election.

Odinga stated that the Assembly will restore democracy, constitutionalism and the rule of law.

The NASA leader added that the Assembly will consist elected leaders and the leadership of other sectors of society in particular workers, civil society, religious leaders, women, youth and economic interest groups.
